Leadership and Performance

In the workplace, many people only view mental and cognitive skills as the most relevant factors affecting performance and leadership. Yet, we are knowingly and unknowingly reading thousands of cues from others’ bodies every moment. But, most of us in the workplace ignore this wealth of information. In the past decade, neuroscience research has uncovered a plethora of information about the role of the body in supporting cognitive skills, the ability to inspire others, decision-making, or conveying credibility and trust.

Becoming aware of your body can improve your leadership effectiveness, concentration and focus, executive presence, as well as decision-making and intuition. By paying attention to your body and leveraging its wisdom you can maximize your mental acuity, reduce stress, and literally change your attitudes and thoughts in a moment. Learn to leverage your mind and body for peak performance in reaching your personal and professional goals even when faced with conflict, stress and pressure. What if instead of just using your body to haul your mind from place to place, you paid attention to your body – noticing its subtle shifts in tension, your tendency to hold your breath during difficulty, or contract in response to certain things instead of remaining open and flexible?

In leadership and performance coaching, I work with individuals to strengthen their leadership skills using traditional frameworks to improve competencies such as communication, delegation, and management. But I also draw on my own somatic background and neuroscience research to help people embody leadership so that they can be inspiring, and visionary while also feeling resilient and empowered.

Resilience and Sustainability

Top talent is powerful commodity. But all too often, companies lose their best employees due to burn out and job dissatisfaction. Wellness is often tossed to the side. Employees are encouraged to push through, try harder even when they are stressed and on the verge of burnout. In actuality, by ignoring well-being and stress, employees become less efficient, less creative, more irritable and more prone to leave the company due to dissatisfaction and burnout.

More and more companies are recognizing the impact that each individual’s physical and emotional well-being has on overall corporate culture and efficiency. Neuroscience and other research can prove why stress and lack of breaks are detrimental to the work force. The bottom line is that the brain learns better and retains more if you take breaks and give the mind a chance to integrate new information.

In my wellness coaching, for organizations, employees and leaders will learn practices and skills to promote renewal and inspiring leadership. I teach stress reduction techniques and strategies for balanced purposeful living that account for the demands of corporate life.

Together we will explore:

  • Stress reduction techniques — meditation, centering, breathing etc.
  • Becoming grounded and confident in your body language and stance
  • How to remain resilient in the face of stress and conflict
